CHEYNEY CROQUET CLUB NEWSLETTER APRIL 2021

Hopefully a new croquet season will be beginning soon and I look forward to meeting you all during the season. Graham has been working hard to get the lawn ready but has been hampered by the weather but hopes it will be ready in 2 weeks time. We will let you know the date we can start. It is not yet whitelined and he would like to ask all members if they would be willing to join a rota to do this. Perhaps you could contact him and tell him when you could NOT do it. His email address is graham_heap@btinternet.com. He is awaiting delivery of a new lawn mower as well.

We enclose Covid instructions from the Croquet Association for you to follow. Graham has asked that you do not put antibacterial spray etc on the locks on the shed as last year they became unusable, perhaps wipe them or use gloves.

We would like to remind members that subscriptions are now due for this year at 65 per person and it would be preferable if you could pay by BACS (60-13-09 41518934) or if by cheque please send to Jonathan Franklin at 9 Delves Close, Ringmer.

It has been very difficult to arrange social events in the light of Covid restrictions but it was hoped to have a BBQ in July at lunchtime. Denise Hadley has offered her garden for a tea party at some time.

It has been decided that Association croquet would be played on Tuesday afternoons, Club play on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings. The club sessions do not need a partner but just join others who turn up. On nice days we could also encourage more socialising by asking people to bring some refreshments for after the session.

It is hoped to play club golf tournaments in July, August and September and hopefully John Stamper will organise these. All play to be booked on-line.

We need a few new members and please could you encourage friends and neighbours to think about trying us out!

Lastly I send my best wishes to everybody.

Rosemary Lewis, Chairman
